10 Month old with texture Issues?

My DS will try anything, but so much of what he eats he spits back out. I think he has some texture issues. Even puffs, which he greedily grabs up, often end up down his chin. So that's problem number 1. The second problem is what else to give him. He loves carbs (ie puffs, cereal, etc) and applesauce & yogurt (which I think goes along with his texture issue - those are smooth w/o chunks so he's happy!). He'll still eat some jar food, depending on the day, but isn't a big fan of the stage 3s. I've been buying those gerber graduate meals, with the veggies & meat and then pasta or whatever, and he'll try it but spits so much back out. He seems to like the veggies, but seems to HATE pasta - pickups, wheels, etc. And the meat is the worst - he rarely swallows it, usually won't even put it in his mouth. I bought those meat sticks gerber makes but we haven't tried them yet. But, he turned up his nose at a hot dog (I know, horrors, right? But I DID cut it lengthwise a couple times) so I'm not sure if he'll eat those. We tried deli meat, but he wouldn't even pick that up. Sometimes he likes me to spoon feed him, other times he wants nothing to do with it. I'm sure this is just a phase, but can you give me some suggestions to help my sanity in the meantime?!?! TIA!

Answers:
remember, he is still really new at this eating solid food thing, let him take his time and adjust to the new textures. if he doesnt want to eat it, dont make him. you'll know when hes ready, i waited a little longer with my now 3yr old, when it came to the chucky and harder to eat foods

First of all everything WILL be ok. He will probably outgrow it. Also, the meatsticks are sooooo gross esp when they come up, they are very high in sodium too. We didn't do "baby food" with #2 and #3 kids and they seem much better with textures than my oldest. Keep offering a variety of healthy foods. Your responsibility is to make the foods available, it is his responsibility to learn how to feed himself. At this age he will get 99% of his nutrients from breast milk/formula so go easy on yourself and give it six months. Hang in there with your little guy.

good feeding ideas even if you're not a breast feeder
Keep exposing him to different foods but don't force him to eat it. Eventually he will start trying different flavors and textures. Yesterday my 3 year old (who doesn't care for meat) discovered that he likes ham. He was watching grandma eat a ham sandwich and decided to try it. As long as he is healthy, don't worry about it.
Honestly, take him to a Dr to make sure he doesnt have some underlying problem that would make him hurt to swallow anything that isnt smooth.
You have done just about all you can do, which is good, plenty of opitions. It sounds like he's a little spoiled, though. The rule in our house is, if it goes in, it goes down. No spitting allowed. You don't have to eat any more of it if you don't like it, but you will finish what is in your mouth. Plain and simple. We are not mean about it just matter of fact, this is how we do things in our house. Good luck.
