My Baby grabs herself when I try to change her diaper.?
Question: My 9 month old baby girl has discovered her genitles. That isn't a problem, but she likes grabbing them when I change her diaper. I tried occupying her with toys, but it doesn't seem to work. Any Suggestions?
Answers:
This is very normal. They explore their bodies, and begin identifying parts of their bodies, and how they feel and look.
You are doing the right thing by giving her toys, but don't make a big fuss about her putting her hands there; the more of a fuss you make, the more "attractive" it becomes to put her hands there. Maybe singing "Patty cake" to her, to encourage her to clap her hands, or playing some sort of game that she has to use her hands for (peek a boo maybe?).
Good luck!
Just let her do it. Kids are supposed to explore their bodies. Don't make it seem to her like it's a bad thing or she'll be traumatized as she grows up.
