My son didn't sleep through the night till he was almost two. You could try a little bit of cereal but an 8 week old baby won't beable to to use the spoon too well. Talk to your ped. they can offer advise as to what to do. Im sure they get stuff like this all the time.
he probably won't know how to eat from a spoon, you can try putting Gerber Rice Cereal in his bottle to help keep him full for a longer period of time no hes to young you are risky alot of allergies his tiny delicate sysatem cant handle food yet. feed him more bottles. increase the amount you feed him if hes still hungry
no on the juice too it could cause allergys this early too
No, it's not OK. Check with the baby's doctor if it's all right to put some baby cereal into the bottle (enlarge the nipple a bit to let the thicker cereal/milk fit through). Good luck. um no, unless you want problems with allergies and obesity when he is a bit older. His stomach isnt fully matured enough for table food. And as for 4 hours, be happy with that, your luckier than most parents....and sleeping for 4 hours is what INFANTS do. Welcome to mommy hood

nurse, and mom to 5
when my baby was 2wks old he was ALWAYS hungry so the doctor told me to put a little bit of cereal in his bottle just enough to notice. After that he was fine Right on schedule. my friends baby is 8 wks old and she feeds her cereal at night She LOVES it. I say go for it. it wont hurt
You should be either breastfeeding or bottle feeding the baby for several months. If you feel the baby is still hungry you need to call your pediactrician. My son would have nursed for 24 hours straight if I had let him. Only through the wisdom of my mom did I learn that he really just had a need to suckle, not just for milk. I ended up giving him a pacifier after I nursed him which seemed to keep him satiated. No, he needs to be at least 4 months old before you introduce solids. Every 4 hours is pretty normal for this age.

I work as Infant Development Specialist No research supports the belief that feeding babies solid food will help them sleep better. Babies given solid food (and this includes rice cereal in their bottle) at a young age do not sleep any better than babies who are not given solid foods. It's an old wives' tale based on the mistaken assumption that babies wake because they are hungry, and thus feeding them will help them sleep through the night.

DONT DO THAT your gonna kill your child and he can die because of a massive heart attack then youll be sitting behind bars wondering WHAT DID I DO WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sleeping for short periods is not necessarily an indication of a baby being hungry. It could be just his sleeping rhythm. Does he empty his bottles or are you breast feeding him? Does he pretty much empty your breast? You could feed him a very thin gruel, but most people won't recommend it. He needs a few more months before you introduce him to solid food. How about experimenting with the formula, if that's what you're feeding him now? Remember, he is only eight weeks old and four hours of sleep is just about right for him, both my wife and I think. Be a little more patient with him and let him find his rhythm without to many expectations on your part. Relax and enjoy him.NO. NO. NO. breastmilk or formula only. he's only two months old. waking up this often if okay. he needs about 6-8 ounces formula every 3-4 hours, depending on formula. My son is 10 weeks and he only sleeps for 3 hours at a time, but he is only eating 4-5 ounces every three hours. Some people believe that rice cereal cannot be digested at this age or that it can cause allergies, the actual effect though is barely significant, unless your family has a strong predisposition to food allergies.
However, you really shouldn't feed him cereal until 1) he can hold his head up when sitting 2) is interested in food (tries to take your food, or opens mouth when spoon is brought towards him) and 3) can swallow solids--try a tiny bit of formula dilluted cereal on the tip of his tongue.
If he can't do one of those 3 things, it will be useless to try to feed him-since he won't be able to eat it. If he can do those 3 things, ask your Dr. if its okay to start solids early.
I fed my son cereal mixed with formula at 5 weeks. He was a very hungry baby. The doctor said not to feed him cereal but I didn't want to deprive my baby of food. I would stay away from juice...it's just empty calories. Save that for when he's older. If your baby is hungry then he is not eating enough at his feedings. Solid food won't help with that. If he completely drains the bottle then you need to try to give him another ounce or two. He is too young to be fed with a spoon. Also, most babies don't sleep through the night until after 4 months so he is right on a normal schedule. Just don't push the solid foods as it can create food allergies and upset his delicate digestive system.
And absolutely no baby juice. That comes much later. Juice (and fruit for that matter) are very hard on a baby and can cause diarrhea. My pediatrician recommended very small amounts of fruit if my children were constipated but that veggies were much more important, and no solid foods until 6 months.

8 weeks old is way too young for any type of solid food. Cereal really wont make him sleep longer. You just have to be patient, he will slowly start sleeping for longer periods. No. No baby--no matter how big, no matter how hungry, no matter how mature--is ready for solids before 6 months old. In fact, it can do serious harm to the baby. Every health organization worldwide today recommends waiting until 6 months old to offer solids for this reason.
If your baby is hungry, he needs *food*. That is breastfeeding. If you aren't nursing or giving human milk, the *only* acceptable alternative is formula. A baby *cannot* digest anything else, so *especially* if he is a hungry baby, you need to feed him more often or more at each feeding. If he is sleeping for 4 hours at a time, that could be the reason that he is eating "too much"; that is *too long* for most newborns to go without a feeding!! Most young babies will have at least 8-10 feedings in 24 hours.
