Solid Feeding?

My baby is 6.5 months old. He has been eating rice cereal twice a day for almost a month. Can you let me know when I should introduce more solid food, how much per meal and how many meals he should have per day (including formula)?

Thanks a lot.

Babycenter.com has a fantastic guide. I have printed it and keep it on our fridge for reference. Here's the link:

A baby at that age should have 24-32 oz of formula spread out through the day.
The most important thing to remember is that breastmilk or formula is supposed to be the main food source for the first year. Milk should make up 75% of the calories they eat. It's recommended to feed milk first, and then top up with solid food if they're still hungry. My son was eating once a day at 6 months and twice a day at 7 months. By 9 months he was eating very small amts 3 times a day. Here's a website that tells what and how much they should have at what age. Hope it helps

A lot of people are in a hurry to start solid food. It's important to remember that as babies, they get their nutrition from milk. Food at this point is more for getting them used to eating, taste and texture, not nutrition.
You can blend your foods. Like beans, broccoli, peas. Or you can even give him some gerber cookies that desolve in the babies mouth while they suck on it.
