2 1/2 old baby not eating as much as he did yesterday..read on for details?

He usually eats about 30-35oz and today he hasnt taken but 20-22oz..he was running a slight fever earlier. but has went down now.he has also been pulling on his ear's. he has a doctor appt in morning..what would you do take him to the ER or wait until the morning to bring him to the doctor?

Answers:
Ear infection... simple symptoms... tugging on ears is a big symptom

The ER isn't a place for a baby that may contact anything, i'd wait till his appt tomorrow, plus maybe he will get over it... if the fever was above 102 then take him in

At that age go to the ER!

If he is pulling at his ear and has had a fever he probably has an earache :( Poor thing.. those are painful.. I would try giving him some baby tylenol to ease the pain till the appointment. It will help him sleep also. ER

He NO DOUBT has an ear infection, my son has had to have tubes placed in his ears three times in his 8 years as he had chronic ear infections. He should be watched tonight as to make sure his fever does nt creep back up, but otherwise tomorrow's DR appointment will be fine.

Bring him to ER. He probably has an ear infection and that's probably the reason whayy he's tugging on his ear. He's probably not eating cause he's still sick and might have a sore throat. Don't wait, cause it can get worse.

just watch that fever till morning dr appt. the fever is an important thing to control with meds to try to prevent a febrile seizure ( a seizure caused by a sudden spike in temperature ).

I've always brought my children in right away if I think they have ear infection because I've had it before and it is very painful. Also, if he does have ear infection, you aren't likely to get much sleep tonight. And, if the ear infection gets too bad, it can damage the ear drum.

He actually could be getting his molars, cause for the slight fever and the drop in eating. I would say wait until doctors appointment unless fever gets to 103 and doesn't come down after giving tylenol.

It really sounds like he has an ear infection. If his fever spikes or rises suddenly, I would take him on into the ER. Otherwise, I would take him to his pediatrician in the morning. If he is not feeling well, he may not eat as much as usual. However, as long as he is eating,, that's okay. Good luck to you and follow your intuition. Always follow your gut instincts concerning your child. If it would make you feel better,,, take him into the ER. You may use tylenol or motrin to help with the fever and any discomfort that he may be experiencing til morning. But, you should follow your heart, no one knows your baby better than you.

I'm assuming your baby is 2 1/2 months old, right? If his fever is above 100 it would probably just be safer to have your doctor paged. Babies lose their appetites when they don't feel good, just like we do. Keep an eye on his temp during the night - if it spikes, go to the ER - if it stays the same you'll probably be safe just waiting til morning. Remember to have your doctor check his ears when you get to the appointment - it could just be he doesn't feel good and is just messing with them or it could be the start of an ear infection. Good luck with the little one!!

he's probably got an ear infection. Keep the water out of it and make sure milk/food doesn't run into it when feeding. Don't worry about taking him into the ER just keep the appointment. He'll be fine. And babies don't always follow their own routines or the experts books. So when they don't eat what they normally do don't worry or less they stop eating for a few days or start to lose weight. Talk to your doctor tomorrow about it at the appointment. He/She will tell you the same.

Just try to keep his fever down by rubbing him with lukewarm water=and dont over bundle him with blankets. If it is an earache, he probably just doesn't want to eat because of the pain
My son didn't want to eat whenever he had a fever either.
