My baby is allergic to Cow's milk and Soy milk......?

I'm still nursing, but want to stop when he's one, in 2 months. What can I give him? Does anyone know of any supplements or anything? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the world of food allergies. I hope that your baby is one of the lucky ones who outgrows them!

My son is also allergic to milk and soy. He was doing great on breastmilk so I kept him on that as long as I could. When he was almost 2 I got pregnant again and my milk changed. He didn't liek it and refused to drink. The nutritionist suggested putting him on Nutramigen baby formula but that stuff is so nasty. I tried everything I coudl think of to make it taste better but nothing worked. It didn't matter if it was good for him if he wouldn't drink it! Then we discovered Rice Dream. They make rice milk and "ice cream".

If you get the enriched rice milk it has as much calcium and vitamins A&D as milk. The only problem with rice milk is that it does not have as much fat or protein as milk. The nutritionist said that he needs more meat in his diet to make up for the protein and fat he would have gotten from the milk.

When he is big enough to chew children's vitamins I suggest that you get him a good multi-vitamin that contains calcium. Be careful of the calcium soft chews though as many of them contain dry milk.

Good luck!

goats milk.my husbands mother used it on him when he was a baby.

try goat's milk that's what i had to have b/c i was allergic to all formulas or try baby formula. good luck Infamil non soy,non milk formula, powder mix ,not the liquid form, found in any grocery.

at one they can drink juice

try goats milk

Try goat milk, or if nothing works try infant formula. Try enfamil Nutramigen..it comes for infants and they have a formula for after the age of one...www.enfamil.com also ask your doctor

1) rice milk. find one that has no cross-contamination with soy products.
2) you can use infant formula that is non-soy-based -- and there is one where the milk proteins are very very broken down, so that 95% of allergic kids can have it. i've heard it's expensive. ask your dr. about the name. in a worse case there is prescription formula, even elemental formula.
3)find a top-notch pediatric allergist.
4)goats-milk is a no-no.
i wish you luck. You can avoid both dairy and soy. You don't *need* to give a baby milk of any sort! If you are worried about calcium (the primary nutrient in dairy), soy milk isn't even a good alternative. Instead, just be sure that your baby gets calcium from other sources; two of the best are sesame (including techina) and almonds.

However, I would suggest you continue nursing in addition. Your baby is more likely to outgrow food allergies the longer he nurses. The World Health Organization recommends nursing for *at least* 2 years.
