is it ok to use a playpen instead of a crib?
Answers:
That is perfectly fine. I used one with my older son until he was about four months old. Make sure that you only use it until he is able to pull-up or exceeds the weight requirement.
It is great to use because many of the pack and plays have changing areas. I loved mine. Good Luck on finding a bigger place.

Yup, just fine!
a pack and play is a portable crib, so I'm tempted to say yes, but depending on the age of the child I could be wrong. I think it's best toa sk your pediatrician.
Of course that's okay. It doesn't make the slightest difference, as long as the baby has somewhere safe to sleep.
Yes, it will be just fine.
Yes, it is basically the same thing as a crib...just portable. I am a mother of two. When we go to visit my family, or my husbands...we take the pack and play for the baby to sleep in, and it works just like a crib, so I would say yes, it is just fine.
It just depends on the age. If you're talking about letting them sleep in it, the answer is no, especially if you're going to have lots of toys or blankets and pillows in there. The child could suffocate. And I'm just guessing but it probably says somewhere on the playpen that the child should not sleep in the playpen. My Aunt has one that says that on the bottom under the mat. But if space is a problem, there are these new type of cribs that fold away when you're not using them. You should check up on them.
ask the doc, see if its safe.
yes it is fine...i didnt use a crib nor a playpen...my baby slept with me until he was 2
Perfectly fine. I have a day care in my home and I use them for naps for the babies and toddlers I keep. I totally understand the cramped space thing, you have to do what you have to do.
Yes it is perfectly fine. I used a pack and play for my daughter from about 6 months to 10 months old. Before that she slept in a bassinette. I don't see anything wrong with letting your baby sleep in a pack and play. Atleast she has a place to sleep and that your baby isn't sleeping with you. It is hard to break a child from sleeping with it's parents. Good luck looking for a bigger place.
Yes, it's ok to use a playpen. Be sure to look at the weight & age maximums though, for your child's safty. ;o)
I used a pack and play near my bed for the first 3 months! I didn't buy a crib intil she slept throught the night. I often let her sleep in the pack and play now...but at the lowest level...she's sitting up now! Pack and plays are a wonderful and multiuse alternative to a cradle or bassinet!

Anything baby safe is fine...my mom had my oldest sister sleeping in a drawer on two chairs until they had the money to buy a crib. As long as you baby proof you child should be safe.
it's perfectly fine, they are designed for that
yes i know people who have their baby in the pack in play for the first three months in their room then they move them to the crib. My wife and I are expecting in less than two weeks and that is our plan. It is not for space but it is OK. Be careful though those things have a weight limit and your baby may end up liking it more than the crib
