The best gift I got was a very nice journal to write down all my thoughts and feelings of being pregnant and also after having my kids. ITs something they can see and read when they get older.
I like to give journals as gifts..I also like to give photo albums or disposable camera's. You can never have too many pictures!

I have two. my graco baby swing, and my 5-1 graco crib set. The swing because it doesn't eat batteries and it keeps my son happy for a long time. The crib because it grows with my kids. My two year old is in it as a toddler bed and my son is in his as a crib.
I received a Musico Swing 2. It was the best thing l ever received. You just put the baby in it, strap the baby in and then the swing did the rest. My two girls fell asleep in it lots, so l didn't have to rock them to sleep. There are lots of different brands out now so go have a look in your baby shop.
Onesies: boys and girls can wear them, they're great in warm weather, you don't have to keep pulling them up or down, your baby can sleep in them, and if you're in a hurry, they can be put on the baby quickly.
I loved the Graco Swing, it used batteries, so you don't have to keep winding it up. My kids loved it. And I don't think I would have made it without their bouncy seats either. It uses batteries and it vibrates to simulate a car. Mine fell asleep in it most of the time.

i recieved a double umberalla stroller when I had my first set of twins and I am still using it with my second set of twins. It folds up very compactly and the kids like sitting next to each other instead of one in front and one in back.

Well I recieved a diaper wipes warmer at my baby shower and I thought that was really neat. Plus my little girl loved it
And number 2- Mylicon Drops for gas. They are life savers.
Creative Memories scrap book for babies. It is about $50, but so nice. I was given one as a gift when I had my first child, and then bought one for my other two children.

my youngest child is now 4 months old and the best thing I've ever purchased for her is a FISHER PRICE FLUTTER-BYE BABY SWING! I've never used one on my older two girls but my baby adores it. its also great for mom because its like you've a spare pair of hands to rock and soothe newborns to sleep, but the best part is that it has an interactive toy bar which is coming into its own now my baby is reaching and grasping at things and it plays beautiful classical lullabies which not only soothes baby but calms Mommy's too!!
