2 month old has tempature?

Question:
My two month old has a temp. of 99.3. I was told when he was born though to bring him in if this temp. was 100 or more. But I am still worried. Should I be concerned or just keep a close eye?

Answers:
I work for a pediatrician and I also have a two month old son. Anything under 100.4 rectally is normal. Once his temp goes past 100.4 you need to call your doctor asap. The most accurate way of taking a babies temp is rectally so make sure you have a good thermometer for that. I would not recommend Tylenol is a 2 month old because if he has something serious you do not want to mask his symptoms. You should consult your pediatrician and see how he feels about you giving Tylenol. Keep in mind that babies change very quickly and can go from being okay to being very sick in a matter of hours. You are the mommy though and you know your child best. If you are really concerned go to the ER. Sounds like your little guy will be just fine though.
call his doctor and find out what to do . when my son was that age we always went straight in for fever. keep in mind new babys have a higher temputure
