where do i find a car seat for a baby 0 to 5 lbs?

My baby was low birthwieght, under 5 lbs. and he was released from the hospital. We had a regular carseat/carrier and they just told us to stuff towels in between the baby and straps to make it a snug fit.

I would do a search on the internet for car seats. Or you could call one of the parenting magazines for information. They should be able to help you out. I suggest Parents, Parenting, or American Baby magazine.

Do you mean a newborn? There is no such thing as a baby weighing 0 lbs and most hospitals would not let a baby out of the hospital under 4-5 lbs.
Babies R Us and toys R Us have infant car seats.
That's because babies who are less than 5 lbs are not able to leave the hospital! They need to be atleast 5 lbs to leave the hospital, otherwise, they remain in the NCIU

I weighed 4 lbs, 13 oz at birth you should be able to find an infant rear facing car seat just about anywhere, I dont know where you live but at least one of these stores will carry them:
Wal-Mart
K-mart
Target
Babies R Us
Toys R US
Baby Depot
Valu City

Don't buy second hand, for your babys safety.
Babies have to weigh almost 5lbs. before they leave the hospital, so you probably won't need a car seat for an infant that small. A regular rear-facing car seat for infants up to 1 year can be purchased almost anywhere they sell baby stuff, Target, Walmart, Toys r us, Sears, JC penny, even on Ebay! To have a premature baby fit snuggly there are inserts that cradle the baby for a better fit. I bought mine at Sears, it was made by Infantino. Good Luck! walmart and dont go to ebay
Use an infant car seat - one with the handle - and use a "head hugger" or a rolled up recieving blanket to fill up the space between the baby's head and the car seat so baby's head doesnt' flop to the side. Just remember - always rear facing until one year old.
A baby 0 to 5 lbs is a premature infant in danger of dying and should be on a respirator in a hospital, not in a car seat.ebay. kmart.dont go to the big stores. try the littlier ones. they might be cheaper too.
