Are babies 3 months old safe to go swimming?

in australia many babies are taught to swim and save themsevles from an eary age. 3 months is fine, usually the mother gets in the pool with them and they get use to water being splashed on their faces. i think its a great idea.
Not by themselves:) Yes, my daughter and I started going to the recreation centre for mom and baby swim program at 4 months of age and there were babies younger than her in the program already. They say the earlier you get them in the water the more likely it is that they'll become swimmers. My daughter is now 24 months and we still go to her swim group 2 days a week and she loves it. Yes...... Baby's swim naturally..... took our daughter to the YMCA when she was 3-4 months old... They have you blow in their face to make THEM HOLD THEIR BREATH THEN LITERALLY DROP THEM IN THE WATER RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU ... THEY SINK A LITTLE BLOW OUT SOME BUBBLES AND THEN KICK AND SQUIRM AND RISE TO THE TOP IT WAS REALLY AMAZING... check with you r local Y....

i have be in that situation once.....
mine was going but with very close supervision I had my son in the water from the time I could prop him up. I used "My babies first Floatie" its a tube with a seat in the bottom of it for babies. Just make sure you are right there with him/her, just in case it tips over. I personally think that letting your child be in water, helps with their motor skills. Just try to get somewhere that there is fewer people splashing around and be safe and careful. good luck and have fun
