What do you do for an 8 Month old baby with constipation?
Answers:
Pears and prunes work the best, but sometimes the poor baby can get so bound up that theres a bit of a blockage and those things just make the baby feel bloated and gassy. In those cases you can buy childrens Glycerin suppositories at the drugstore. For infants they suggest cutting one in half and inserting it. Your baby should poop within a half an hour.

don know plez suggest me.
dont feed him powdered milk! the powder milk gets stuck in its intestines and hence causes constipation. breast feed or give him the other milk that comes for infants thats already readymade for them!
my mom used to boil fennel seeds with caraway seeds in water and it used to help alot for baby colic and constipation!!
Try apple juice, pear juice or prune juice.
Also try baby food apricots,or canned pears.
If you are giving your baby iron supplements, wait 1 hour before and after any dairy product.Dairy binds with the iron and will constipate.
If it lasts contact your pediatrician.
Call your pediatrician, they will prescribe some drops to place in the milk bottle, in worse case the doc will place a BABY suppository in the baby's rectum.
Over the counter gas drops (baby) in the baby's milk, will help also.
You could try a little a little prune juice. Just a little added to the babies bottle-1-2 ounces. You could also try a little Vaseline around the bottom..

Take them to the doctor, but if not increase fruit and water intake. Raisins work well if the baby is chewing, if not maybe a bit of prune juice. At that age they should not be constipated because they are still on a liquid diet most of the time. Try watering down the juice to get the fluid in. Increase vegetables as well for the roughage.
Our pediatrician suggested pears, prunes, peaches and apricots. Both the pureed baby food and juices. these 4 items are high in fiber and are natural laxatives. Stay away from formulas and cereals that are iron fortified. Iron binds you up.
I always put a little bit of Caro syrup(the white kind) in the bottle when mine were little. That seemed to help.
A big cause of constipation in babies is not enough fluids in their diet. Try mixing equal parts water and prune juice when the are already constipated. But keep giving water and apple juice daily to prevent it in the future. The sugar in the apple juice allows the body to absorb more water.
I think you should reconsider your choices of where to get information on how to care for your child!
You need to get soem prune juice and put it in the bottle. Dilute it with 1/3 juice and thr rest water in a 10 oz bottle. Also soft pureed prunes for food you can feed hinm or her half a small bottle. They need a releasing agent and they can't have too much bran or wheat at this age. So the prunes are your best bet. Hope this helps.

Mother of a three year old and a nine month old
My daughter has had problems with this for the last 4 years. I have taken her to the doctor, they told me it is normal, and it isn't! You see how painful it can be for your child and there is nothing you can do. Finally last week a doctor gave me glycolax for her, and she hasn't had problems yet, thank god!
Besides prune juice, mixt some baby oatmeal with formula and feed it in the bottle.
My daughter had consipation so bad, her little bum would bleed. I swear by flax oil. It is easy to use, just mix in her/his food. Or flax seed in a cookie . I tell you It works like a hot damn.
Good luck

You can give your baby orange juice the WIC kind.
First, consult a doctor to rule out any underlying illness.
Try offering your baby cooled, boiled water, or breastfeed him/her more frequently - dehydration is a common cause of constipation.
Try removing constipating foods like bananas, rice cereal, white bread and pasta from baby's diet and offer peaches and apricots to help soften stools.
Massage baby's tummy in a clockwise direction, starting from the navel and working outwards. This works well in a warm bath.

Have you tried sugar water or apple juice? My 10-month-old has always suffered with constipation. We mix a little sugar or dark karo syrup with water and feed in a slow-flow nipple almost daily. You can also add karo to a milk bottle. Doctors may tell you not to, but we did with my oldest child and have occasionally with the baby with no harm done. Also there are baby laxative suppositories available at the drug store for severe cases.
Homemade carrot puree... Boil the carrots until most of the water has evaporated. Then puree in a blender (use some of the remaining water if it's too thick) and wait for it to cool. You can store it in the fridge immediately in baby food jars or anything sealable. Our son is 19 months and we've been using this since he started to eat solids. Good Luck to You!!!
