Who likes the name Dallas for a baby girl?

My husband and I are talking about trying to have babies soon. I know it's a little premature to be picking out names, but I have alweays loved the name Dallas. He doesn't like it. He said we could use it if I had my heart set on it, but I don't wanna curse my unborn child with a cruddy name.

Answers:
I think it's kinda cute...you may want to have a few names handy till you see the babies face...

You should name the child for the child...not for something you've been partial to all this time that has nothing to do with the personality of the person you're going to bless or curse with this name for the rest of their lives.

I think you might save names your obsessed with for the middle name...and find something suitable to the baby's first name...when you see the baby...

I myself am 5 months pregnant and will reserve 5 names for each sex that represent combination of past family members names, our combined heritages and our combined favorites for when we see our baby...and then we'll assign a name that fits best from the choices we have previously agreed to as possibilities.

Other Answers:
Sure, honey. Go ahead and name her Dallas. What a great springboard into the adult entertainment industry when she turns 17!

Get real. Can you name two succesful females anywhere in the world with the first name "Dallas"? Apply that test to your name-chossing and you won't have to worry about cursing your baby with a "crudy name."

I don't think that children should be named after cities. i do

dallas is a cute name

Dallas for a girl? i agree with Hubby

I knew a guy named Dallas. I don't much like it for a girl. that name is shitty

Yeah, I quite like it

If you want your child to become a porn star, yes.

Totally Lame! Sounds like a stripper/phone sex operator. Please name her something with a little more class. i think it is cute for a baby girl i suggest that you name it Dallas

I know a coupla people named Dallas...one is a guy about 50 and the other is a little boy who is 5..so I don't know about using it for a girl......

i like it.

I like it. I think it's cute... It is a common name for porn stars and strippers. Consider something more established.

Personally if you are going to name your child after a city I'd go with Savannah.

How about Dolly or make Dallas her middle name so it will be less noticeable if it's cruddy...

oh its a cute name :) CRUDDY! But whatever your heart says is the right name is the right name!

It should be a mutual decision. You better start looking at other choices.

Good Luck.

As long as she never has a friend named Debbie. Could be you're setting her up to be teased. To be honest... aside from ANY name you pick I think you both should be happy about a name you BOTH PICK AND LIKE...

I mean...evreybody is telling YOU pick or don't pick the name, what about your unhappy husband (yeh, he's unhappy but he's doing it for you!and you know it already...)

Anyways, IMO I think you BOTH should agree & be happy about a name, at least that's how I think marriage works...

In short , NO WAY OUT, you HAVE to be fair ;)

Personally, I'm not a fan!

I don't understand this bizarre trend of naming people after places. Pets I understand, but you're saddling that kid with that name for life! Everyone is going to ask her why she's named after a city. In high school I was friends with a girl named Atlanta, and everyone asked her if that's where she was conceived. She was mortified every time. Her middle name was worse (Gertrude!), so she stuck with Atlanta.

If you go with Dallas, please please please give the kid a normal middle name. At least she'd have an alternative when she gets older.

I don't like that name at all. I'm not being mean, but it sounds like a man's name and she will get teased. I agree with your husband. You should consider a more feminin name. yep, she'll make a great stripper.
Dallas is a good name for a city, Pick a normal name.
Mary, amy , alice,
MIKE NO ! PLEASE, she will grow up and no-one will tell there friends they are dating Dallas
