11-month antediluvian keep gag himself?
Answers: My second did this too. It's scary and annoying, but it's a moment ago a study in cause and effect. Kids are funny. He'll quit once he's smug that sticking his fingers down his throat leads to gagging. You've get a little scientist!
He's discovering his gag reflex. It's a normal slice of childhood development, although a disturbing behavior for most parents. Ignore it, but don't stop it...as long as you're confident he's not going to choke himself at the dinner table. When he realizes he doesn't seize a rise out of anyone, he will stop on his own. Good luck! I asked my sons dr about that b/c he was doing that around 12 or 13 months. He said not to verbs and its totally normal. He is figuring out what he can do, how it feel, and is looking for any reaction he gets from it. My son acutally made himself vomit a few times, very soon at 14 months he hardly ever does it anymore.
It could be one of two things. He could have teeth coming within and putting his fist in his mouth soothes him. My daughter does the exact same thing and she is teething for her first tooth. Or I own heard of kids do this for attention or so they can get out of something they dont wanna do. When the kid does that most parents will bequeath in because they dont want their kid choking. At his age I would say its a tooth. Just check and see if their is one coming contained by even if there isnt try giving him teething toys cuz they will do the same trick and his fist except he wont choke on the toy.
