After School Care?

Question:

My son is 5 and he starts school at the end of August. He has been in daycare since he was 1. I am going to have to switch daycares when he starts school or put him in after school care, because we live in a different county than where his daycare is located and the buses do not travel out of county. I was thinking about putting him in the Kids Plus program (after school care) that they offer at the school he will be going to. Is after school care better than daycare?

Answers:
Not better, or worse, just different. He can play with kids his own age, do enrichment activities, arts & crafts, sports with his friends from school. It will give him a chance to play with his classmates in a less structured setting. I will be sending my kindergartener to after-school care too. My older kids really enjoyed their time there and I don't have any concerns with the program.

No no better just more convenient for you and your child.
