I need to lose 10 pounds in about 2 wks. What is the quickest & safest way to shed those pounds?

Answer:
Do you want a fast way or most effective way? Fastest means you are likely to gain it back. Most effective means you lose it and keep it off.
I totally advise against fast, why waste your time and effort. Just continue reading for the most effective.

You will need a complete lifestyle change and you will need to be committed. This bit of advice is something I tell anyone who asks whether you are my client or not.

There are 5 most important things that must go together in any workout program. These are part of changing your complete lifestyle to one that is healthier. They also help you to naturally optimize your metabolism. The faster your metabolism the better your body uses your food for energy, instead of storing it as fat.

I put them in the order of importance.

1. Eat more. Yes eat more. More meals that is. It is best to eat a small meal every 3-4 hours. The meal should be just large enough to where you are not hungry, as opposed to eating you are full. There is a difference, think of it as no bigger than the size of your two fists put together. Eating 1 or 2 meals a day slows your metabolism down. You should have at least 4-6 meals a day. For most a ratio of carbs-proteins-fats should be 50%-25%-25% is good, but each person is unique.

2. Drink more water. Most of us don’t have enough water. This means our bodies are dehydrated. Two things a dehydrated body has trouble doing, one is releasing water. In order to lose fat you must be able to release water, because fat cells in your body are composed of mostly water. A dehydrated body cannot build very well. Muscle tone indicates a constant building state in your body. If your body isn’t building that means it is losing muscle and it’s never good to lose muscle that slows your metabolism and makes you look flabby.

3. Maintain a balanced workout regimen of cardio and resistance (weights). Cardio is good for fat burning and it’s easy to do and to progress yourself. Resistance is a little harder because it’s not as easy to know what to do. If weights aren’t your thing then try Yoga or Pilates. Both are very effective resistance and core training and can help you maintain lean muscle and increase your overall metabolism.

4. Smart supplementation of your diet is your best solution to making sure you get the nutrients your food doesn’t give you. A daily multivitamin will suffice in most cases, and if you don’t like pills they sell it in liquid form. Plus cleanses, as well as detox formulas are awesome for eliminating toxins we take into our bodies without knowing.

5. Sleep is a very important part of any healthy lifestyle regimen. When we sleep our bodies and minds refresh themselves and allow us to function at an optimal level. Sleeping allows muscles to rebuild themselves and when they do that, it speeds your metabolism.
You may ask why I gave you this long list instead of just telling you what exercises to do. The reason is if you think that exercising is all you need then you are mislead. If exercising is all we needed to look and feel great then everybody who works out at the gym would have great bodies and be healthy. If you have been to a gym before you know its not true.

Lets be real, teens don’t like to eat healthy. I know, I have 2 teen children. If you don’t remove or minimize the essential elements of a teen diet, soda, sweet or salty snacks, fast food, and sweets then your chance at losing weight goes down.
Teens do have an advantage, their metabolism is much faster, so they can burn off what they eat faster. Unfortunately what they eat can slow it down because there are some things that the body just can’t rid itself of fast enough.

You are a teenager so it’s easier for you to be active. Don’t spend your time in front of the TV all the time, get out and do something, you know move around. Don’t think some miracle is going to save you from your obesity problem, its not. You are the only one who can make a difference.
About your weight loss.
The body loses about 2 pounds a week optimally and that’s 2 pounds that stay off. If you are committed then you should reach your goal.

My cousin knew someone who lost 10 pounds in a week by eating powdered donuts and orange juice. I don't think this will help though. lol.

Do lots of jumping jacks throughout the day. This type of excercise keeps the heart rate up but will not develop muscle mass which is actually heavier than fat. Do 100 every 1/2 an hour, then drink an 8oz glass of purified water. When you eat, only serve yourself 1/3 of what you would normally eat. When you feel hungery all day you will know that you are doing it right.
To be honest I don't think there is a safe way to lose 10 pounds in two weeks even if you do it, you will more then likely gain it all back and some
Your best bet would be to change your eating habits to something similar to about meat about half the size of a chalkboard eraser to 3/4 the size, about 2 cups of fruit a day, 2 1/2 cups of veggies a day, about 3 cups worth of milk, and about the equivalent of 6 slices of bread a day.

On the meats, you need to grill it, briol it, or bake it, no frying. Try not to eat snacks try and limit yourself to about 3 meals a day and maybe be better to eat and apple for a snack if you must have one. Limit fats and oils, like butter, shortening, margerine, and lard as well as foods that have them in it, or as part of the cooking process.

Next up is exercise, the stuff everyone is afraid of, but I am not asking you to go get a membership at a gym. Just go out side and walk or jog for about 1/2 an hour to 45 minutes. For the best results, use an exercise bike for an hour, get your heart rate around 165 and you will shed those lbs.

I have to say that sould you choose to follow this advice, it at your discretion, I am not a nutritionist or a physical trainer, but this is the advice I have from several pamphlets. What ever you do, do not DO NOT starve yourself, it could result in your becoming sick.

If you are talking SHORT TERM, this will work. It has worked for me, for Renee Zellweger (after her Bridgett Jones movies) and for many others who need fast weight loss. Follow these steps religiously:

1.Drink lots of fresh water every day using this formula: (your current weight) divided by 2 = ounces of water to consume each day. I like to drink room temperature water from a bottle because it’s easier to “chug.” I put four of the bottles on the kitchen counter and make sure they are all empty by the end of the day. Best to consume them throughout the day.

2.Don’t drink any alcohol of caffeine. No soft drinks. Only green teas. REMEMBER, THIS IS ONLY 14 DAYS. YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU REALLY WANT YOUR GOAL.

3.Fast walk or run for at least 60 minutes each day. Best to do this in the morning to rev up your system for high calorie burn all day long.

4.Do at least 50 crunches each day. I break mine into 2 or 3 different sessions. Also, if I need to do 20 crunches, I play a little trick with my mind and I “pretend” I am going to count to 25. It’s amazing how this helps the body get to all of the crunches with the same intensity.

5.Eat only fresh vegetables! This is the key to the whole thing. Eat as many as you want, but DON’T eat any of the following: starchy vegetables including potatoes, squashes, pumpkins, and the like. They will work against you. Limit carrots, snow peas, and other veggies that are high in sugar content. NO GRAINS. Just fresh vegetables. You can eat salads, stir-fries, steamed, etc. But this is at the heart of your success.

6.Don’t eat anything after 7:00 p.m.

7.Put photographs (from magazines) up all over your house of trim, fit women. They will serve as motivators.

8.Several times each day – especially when you first get up and when you go to bed, say something like: “I am enjoying my weight of (your goal weight).” Put it in the present tense and say it many times – with feeling! This will affect your subconscious mind to help you achieve your goal. Also, post these words in the same places where you post the photographs.

Also, don’t be surprised if you start feeling better than you have felt in a long time. You will have more energy, most aches and pains will be gone, and your whole body will look brighter. One warning, early on your elimination will be a little “urgent.” You may have some cramping. But this will all go away soon. Your body is in a deep cleanse.

STAY POSITIVE. DON'T GIVE INTO TEMPTATION BECAUSE IT WILL HAPPEN. HAVE VEGGIE SNACK FOODS AVAILABLE TO YOU. GOOD LUCK.
