what to do for severe backache?

Answer:
It depends on whether it's muscular or disc related.

For muscular: sleep flat on your back on a firm surface with your legs bent. Do excercises to strengthen your abdominals. Weak abs are a primary culprit in back strain. Use proper body mechanics. Not too much lifting, and when you do, bend your knees and keep the load close to you. Remember, prevention is easier than cure.

Disc: See a chiropractor, they'll feel it out. Then, see an orthopedic surgeon. Get their advice before doing careful stretching, inversion therapy, and yoga, if you can handle it. Here again, prevention is easier than cure. Try yoga, and eat lots of fiber.
Other Answer:
USE AN ELECTRICAL MASSAGER OR PUT ICY HOT WHERE IT HURTS, ASK YOURE DOCTOR.
Hello, I would recommend first seeing your doctor. After that, then a Professional Massage therapist. Check their creditials and ask to see if they are certified in the following to help; any one of these trainings might help a lot.. Hot Stone ("native" or "La Stone"), Deep Tissue - but before this I would recommend Soft Tissue Release. Myfacial is also another good tech. to use on chronic back pain. Good luck.
