Knee pain while running?

Question:

Answers:
Knee pain can be caused by many things including arthritis, ligament injuries, cartilage injuries, patellar tendonitis, chondromalacia, dislocated kneecap, Baker's Cyst, bursitis, Plica syndrome, Osgood-Schlatter disease, Osteochondritis dissecans, and gout. It would be best to see your doctor to get an exam, to see what the cause may be.

If you are running on a treadmill, make sure you have it on a slight incline. Buy new running shoes at least once a year. Finally, and perhaps most important and easy to ignore, stretch. Run a bit (5 minutes) to warm-up, stretch, run for your goal time, and then warm down with some stretching.

Depends on lots of things and where the pain is. I would suggest going to one of the numerous running sites (e.g. coolrunning.com - training - aches and pains) and do some self diagnosis.

Almost all of these will require REST REST REST (if you are running a lot). In severe / persistent cases, go see a doc who may prescribe physical therapy, which can do wonders.
