does any body have any tips to quit smokeing?

Answers:
Acupuncture has been, and still is, used as a very effective cure for many things. It has been around for a few thousand years. Many people in the Western world cannot come to terms with acupuncture, but it has had many remarkable successes. I have used it myself to cure problems with wax in my ears and a minor bladder problem.

Audiotapes provide self-hypnosis techniques and some contain subliminal messages behind background music or sounds such as the sea or winds.

Chewing Gum containing nicotine is used as a replacement.

Cold Turkey is generally considered the most effective method, unless of course, you are selling a product.

Computer Programs can help schedule the quitting process.

Tapering, or Cutting Down Slowly involves gradually reducing the number of cigarettes you smoke each day until you arrive at zero.

A Health Farm provides a strict regime for you to follow for a fixed period, after which you should be cured.

Hypnosis, like acupuncture has been used as a cure for many things, including quitting smoking.

Inhalers are used instead of cigarettes to provide the nicotine. Gradually the strength is reduced. They can also be inconvenient and embarrassing in some situations.

Patches provide a steady supply of nicotine through the skin. The strength gradually reduces until the craving shouldn't exist.

There are various forms of Tablets which have been developed to assist people stop smoking. There can be side effects.

Therapy can help uncover the reasons for smoking and develop a plan to quit smoking.

Eat a lot of lolipops(just to have something in your mouth!)
Try searching the internet on this one. Within the last week, a new pill was approved to help stop smoking but I don't remember the name of it. Search www.foxnews.com and some other news sites. Possibly www.fda.gov
The best way is cold turkey. If not that, try the patch. Good luck
Start drinking lol
Stop buying cigarettes
the way to do it, is slowly cut down, then, get some nicotine patches, then pick a good day, where you feel strong, and quit, the patches will give you the nicotine, try sucking on a straw when you feel like picking up a cigarette, a good way to slow down, is to only smoke outside, or set your cigarette in an ashtray clear across the room, get up and go to the cigarette when you want a drag.
JUST SAY TO YOURSELF I CAN DO IT.REALLY I MEAN IT WITHOUT SELFCONF. U CANT DO IT. PLEASE DO IT ,I ALSO QUIT IT SAME MANNER. PLEASE LEAVE IT TODAY,NOW!
keep away from the people who smokes.
Don't smoke before 10am or after 10am for 3 days. Then don't smoke bfore 11am etc etc. until you are down to half an hour of smoking a day. Then stop.
Think about the following questions before you try to stop smoking. You may want to talk about your answers with your health care provider.

1. Why do you want to quit?

2. When you tried to quit in the past, what helped and what didn't?

3. What will be the most difficult situations for you after you quit? How will you plan to handle them?

4. Who can help you through the tough times? Your family? Friends? Health care provider?

5. What pleasures do you get from smoking? What ways can you still get pleasure if you quit?

Once you quit, there's no turning back, quit smoking — NOT EVEN A PUFF!
Chew mint gum.
Dont buy any new ones. Convince yourself as to why want to and NEED to quit. I had been smoking for 10 yrs and I am only 23. I quit and then put up post it notes saying the reasons I want to quit:

I want to breath
I want to live
I want to smell better

To be honest, its just a bad habit, cigarettes do nothing for us but soothe that craving for one. There are no benefits. Drink alot of water, and chew gum to soothe that oral fixation. Use the patch if you need to. After a while you will feel like a new person.
Please don't quit smoking please reduce gradully your smoking and that is right keep something in your mouth and also you can use Zic Zak tooth paste
swallow a cigarette while its still lit.... haha but seriously go search the internet for quitting. depending on how long you have been smoking it might be really hard even with the patch. my mom tried to stop a billion times but has yet to succeed she is 39 and started smoking when she was like 12. my grandma is 61 and started when she was 13 so if u truely want to quit i believe the have help for ya out there. but licking a lollypop most likely wont work either! unless you have a never ending supply!
Do Yoga or go for self hypnosis
Chew GUM..
See page 53 in June reader's digest (on the stands now) for an excellent method outlined by 2 doctors whosay they have 90 percent success rate.
Honestly, and I know most people wouldn't recommend this because it's illegal (which doesn't make any sense at all),
but start smoking a little bit (a REALLY little bit) of marijuana when you have a craving. It's actually GOOD FOR
THE LUNGS, it helps you cough up crap that has been breeding down there, and studies show it helps eliminate free radicals (the cells that cause cancer...ie: THE REASON YOU'RE QUITTING). It's also nice to smoke something that doesn't kill you. I actually quit smoking weed cause I didn't enjoy the high anymore, but trust me, I know many people who have quit smoking with marijuana, and are very happy to have done so. It's not the evil drug people make it out to be. This may not be for you, but I recommend it.

Also, something that I would not recommend but I hear it works is the antidepressant Wellbutrin. I hear it does wonders for people trying to quit, although I don't recommend anything like that because it can cause manic episodes and possibly suicidal thoughts (a little odd for an antidepressant, don't ya think?). Just my two cents. Think about it, if you want to quit REALLY bad.

Acupuncture may work...I don't know about it personally, but have heard/read good things.

Keeping your mouth busy with gum/suckers/sex (heh).

Flick a guitar pick like a cigg, worked for me.

Don't hang out with smokers until you feel you can resist.

Find a good friend (who doesn't smoke) or a significant other to nag you about it. It can be unpleasant, but that's why it works.

QUIT COLD TURKEY. STUDIES SHOW THAT TRYING TO QUIT GRADUALLY DOESN'T WORK. LOOK IT UP, I'M NOT LYING. It makes a lot of sense actually when you read why. ONLY TRY IT AS A LAST RESORT.

Good Luck. I hope you can do it. I only smoke when I drink and that's bad enough. If you drink and smoke you know what I mean.

My dad was a two pack a day Marlboro Reds guy. One day he bought his last pack of cigs opened it up took one cig out and smoked half that cig threw the rest up on top of the frig bought lemons and cut them into wedges and carried them in a ziplock bag and lollipops and everytime he had the urge to smoke he would take a lemon wedge out and bite into it and then suck on the lollipop. He has been smoke free for 25 years.
Its a great moment in time to answer this question and a very simple one to me because once before I am a change smoker.
My tips and my answer is this, it is you and you alone to be able to quit that thing, and nobody around you can take that decision to do so. So start now to think not to smoke anymore...and you should do that if you want to quit smoking.
O. K. and Good day....

my self
I saw a documentary that chances of quitting smoking (for life) using Cold Turkey method is 3%; others off-the-shelf stuff is about 30%; There is one(can't remember the name) now under clinical trial in Switzerland has a 50% chance (suppose to be a big thing).

I know I didn't answer your question but, being realistic, I think one can only cut down. It would take ENORMOUS amount of will power to achieve a smoke free life otherwise.
Stop brushing your teeth. You'll quit smoking. ;)
Yes of course. I smoked 15 years. I tried to leave and used many methods. At last I find the most affective one: I doubled my daily cigaret consumtion. I'v felt slightly ill and uncomfortable, I could hardly took breathe... My lungs were wheezing and one day I decided to leave smoking. From that day until now passed more than 15 years.I never never yearn for it. I am very happy. Making sport and liquid consumption also helped me
