Are there any kind of free viruses in the environment?

Answers:
Most mammalian and avain viruses do not last long outside of a cell; they can typically last from hours to a day or two. The Norwalk virus can survive for two days. However, i believe bacteria phages, that is viruses that only infect bacteria are able to survive longer.

So yes, there are free viruses in the enviroment, but they need to enter a cell quickly since they are unable to last long otherwise

Other Answers:
Probably a zillion or so. And yes, they are free (in both senses of the word).
All viruses are free, unless of course you pay someone (for some untoward activity) an catch a nasty infectious bug.
