Answers:
It's great that you're asking the question. To be properly motivated is more than half the battle.

To lose weight the amount of calories you take in have to be less than what you burn. I'm sure you've heard that many times. So it's critical that you're able to identify those foods that are super high in calories.

Get yourself a list of foods and their calorie equivalents. Red line the foods that are very high in calories; for example: avocados. Avoid those foods.

The next thing to do is become more active. Less TV and more walking or biking or swimming or whatever you like to do. But get up and out and move about.

Then there are subtle things you can do that fall under the heading of behavior modification that will help you lose weight. One very effective example is: Don't bring pots and pans loaded with food to the table. Leave them in the kitchen on the stove. Take only one plateful of food. You'll be surprised how much less food you'll eat by doing just that.

Those are just a few suggestions.

But stick to it. You'll get there! (SMILE)

(and following them for a year and a half).
fruits, vegetables and lean meats. limit your amount of fat.
Eat less carbs. Don't completely cut them out, but eat more meats, green veggies, cheese.

Completely cut out pop. Drink as much water as you can.

Buy smaller plates, bowls, etc (portion control) &/or leave 4 bites on your plate from every meal (it's amazing how much uneaten food that adds up to in just one week).

Also...WALK, WALK, WALK. Just a few small changes like this will make a difference.

Don't go by pounds. Take your measurements every few weeks to see how many inches you've lost. If you are exercising then you're gaining muscle & the pounds may not reflect your true progress.

Good luck!
Try Body for Life, a program by Bill Philips. I did this program, and lost 25 pounds in twelve weeks. I ate six meals a day, each a healthy combination of carbs and proteins, and I was never hungry. It also involves exercise. If you have no self-discipline, this may not be the program for you. But if you can stick to it, it absolutely works, and works fast. I checked it with my doctor, and she gave it the thumbs up. It's totally healthy. Oh, I also dropped my cholesterol level by ninety points in that twelve weeks! I went from 185 (I'm 5'6" tall) to 160, so I know this works!
