How can I get a smooth shave in my armpits without irritation?

Answers:
I read some special tips for armpit shaving on a Venus Razors insert, that you should shave all 3 directions (up, down and across) to avoid ingrown hairs and irritation. This is because armpit hair grows in all three of those directions. Do it when you are in a hot shower or bath to help soften and loosen the hair follicles. It is also a good idea to use a shave cream or lotion with a moisturizer in it. If you have sensitive skin, be sure to find one that says for "Sensitive Skin" on it. Blessings!

Hot wax.
The secret to any smooth shave is temperature and a very sharp razor (preferably new). You should shower first and make sure the water is good and hot, then soak your armpits really well. This will open up your hair follicles. When you shave your reaching right down into the roots and shaving as deeply as possible. This method will also reduce shaving bumps on your armpits and legs.

Guys know this stuff because we have to shave our faces, and that's the last place you want irritation.
either use weak acid or numb your artpit and either shave it or wax it

Use hair conditioner. Leave it on for at least a minute before you shave. Seriously.
if you want to be totally smooth try nair or waxing.shaving always leaves stubble
well u can get ur underarms waxed... or laser those suckers off... if you are asking whats better shaving cream or soap? shaving cream is better b/c its an ez lather and some soaps are dull and dont lather as well...
i sound like a freakin commercial!! LOL
good luck
Dont Shaveit, Nair it!
Hair removal: spray!
yea probably hav to use wax...either that or a good expensive razor ...like gilette or schick quatro...or something
apply a warm wash cloth for a few minutes, or let hot water run over the hair for a few minutes. Use a hot shaving cream, or any shaving cream, and really rub it in . Use a new razor blade. I think Mach III Turbo is the best. Good luck.
it would be better if you waxed ur underarms since the hair will take longer to grow, plus the hair wont be dark and thick...wax it...its way more better

i wax
Try veet cream it works really well no shaving or waxing just apply leave for 3 minutes and wipe off
Umm...I would go with either Nair or Veet, because it eliminates most of the roots, so that the hair won't grow back that quickly. If you do decide to follow my advice, though, always test it on a small part of your body, just to make sure it won't irratate your skin...it didn't for my friends and i , but to each his own...Nair or Veet is your BEST bet...
Old stripper's trick: to avoid shave bumps, rub deodorant on freshly shaved area.
I'd use Gilette Fusion Hydragel and a Gilette Fusion razor. I have very sensitive skin and even occasionally get rashes from deodorant, but I was fine using these. I have only shaved my pits once though, for a drag show...

How often depends on how quickly your hair grows back. It depends on your gender (which I can't decide, since your screen name is Jacob, but you're asking about shaving your armpits). It's generally socially unacceptable for women in the U.S. to show armpit hair, so shave any time you plan on having your armpits revealed. If you're a guy, it's whatever makes you happy I guess.

Good luck.
well wax is a good idea but it gives pain and sometimes irritation, so maybe use shaving cream and shave maybe every other day to maintain the smooth close shave.
Shave in the shower. Don't know if anyone wouldn't. First shave with the hair then against it. I just use soap and never get any irritation, but shaving cream may help. I shave like every other day or so, maybe like every three days.
shaving cream in a hot shower. hot/warm water opens the pores and makes the hair easier to shave
