Does anyone have any advice on the best pilates reformer for home use?

I am thinking about buying a pilates reformer for my home. I want something of quality but I am looking at a price range of no more than $500. Something that can be easilt stored.

Answers:
I would not recommend any pilates reformer for home use. There are several great models out there at reasonable prices but here is what i've found from several years of pilates training.

Unless you have taken many years of private lessons on the reformer and/or are certified in pilates, you can actually do more harm than good trying to train yourself at home without a supervising instructor present.

It is extremely easy to do the exercises with improper form - even if it feels like you are doing them correctly - then you will keep repeating this improper form unless a trained eye is there to correct you. And that can cause some problems. At the very least, it will render the exercise ineffective if nothing else.

If you are really bent on doing pilates - and I do highly recommend it as an excellent form of exercise as well as an excellent form of physical therapy - then I would suggest you find some group reformer classes taught by a certified professional in a setting with their equipement, not yours.

The group reformer classes will cut down dramatically on cost yet still give you the awesome reformer sessions as opposed to the not-so-awesome pilates mat classes.

good luck to you!
