Depending on the expiration date, a properly sealed container should have a shelf life of 6 months or more. If the seal has been broken I would discard the contents.

How "Expired" do you mean? Usually, as a rule, most preserved agents, or medications are ok until the end of the month they expire ( or longer). Example- if the powder expires March 06, then it should be ok until the end of the month. However, I would double check with the company or the store, or even a pharmacy...
