Is it true that running is harmful to your hips or gluteaus?

I run about 20 miles a week for my stomache, but i also dont want ugly hips either. Cuz i thought that running actually helps the hips.

Answers:
Running is definitely not harmful to the hips or gluts. You definitely are going to use your gluts a lot with runnning, but it won't cause them any harm. Running can be a little harmful to your knees, especially if you are overweight and lacking good quad & hamstring strength.

Other Answers:
It's perfectly OK to run unless you're an old geezer whose knees can't take it or something like that. The pain that lasts for days after you stop running will tell you.

You can't exercise just to lose fat in one place.

I'm all in favor of exercise, but for losing weight, not eating so much is more important.
first of all how the heck do you run so much and why?if you want to tone your stomach and hips try doing workout videos like Pilates or Tae Bo. Running only tones your legs and arms mostly. Take it from me I run every week too and my family revolves around staying in shape. Why dont you try doing a workout video 3 days a week and running 2 days a week or add on the weekends. But remember to burn as many calories as you eat and you have to burn 3,500 extra cals to burn a pound!good luck!
