I am doing my friends makeup for prom and her dress is white, any tips for a white dress?

regardless of the outfit, play up her best features. and to be most dramatic - play up THE one feature, be it eyes, mouth, cheeks...

play off her natural skin tones and try to stay away from a monochromatic palette as that will have a tendency to wash the person out in the dress.

blues and purples mixed with warm neutrals is an option, so is red lips and a natural palette - nudes and browns on the eyes... there are so many options with white!

Tip # 1- don't get any make-up on the white dress
be sure you put the make up on b 4 you put on the dress or it could get ugly....duh..thats all i got 2 say!
Use neutral colors, and a good blush (mauve color) to highlight her cheeks to make it appear if her appearance has changed. TIP: when you apply blush to a large brush(they are best) don't for get to tap the access blush off to prevent over application.
Black and white. Best way to go. Black eyeliner and mascara if you dont want to use white shadow, or if you do. Works both ways.

Also, you could use natural colors that go well with her skin color, like pinks or beiges.

And again...remember to do the make up before you put on the dress. And as you put on the dress, be careful not to touch your face with it.

Makes sure she has the dress on BEFORE you put on the makeup so it doesnt smudge. Then wrap her up like a mummy in towels so she doesnt dirty her beatiful dress. Go for neutral tones of makeup with ONE more accented feature, such as played up eyes.
Go very light with the make-up, you don't want to take away from the beauty of the white dress. I would go with a light violet eyeshadow(violet brings light to the eyes, makes them appear wider, and brings out the natural color in the eyes). Also go with a light violet eyeliner, brown mascara(black will be too dark next to the violet). Use a light color blush, just enough to put a flushed look on the cheeks, and a light pink or sheer lipstick.
try either neutral browns that fade out so it looks natural. or a white/sparkly blend. mac has some really nice veluxe pearl ones that im guessing would look great. :]

Whatever you do, DO NOT use white or silver. It will look terrible in pictures. I find that shimmery nudes/browns look best for all eyecolors and with any clothing color b/c it's neutral.
