Does high soda consumption increase the risk of diabetes?

Assume 4-6 cans per day and no change in overall weight.

Answers:
sugar consuption does not cause diabetes, however obesity does. If you're drinking that much pop, but not gaining weight, you probably won't develop diabetes, but it's still not healthy.

Other Answers:
Yes, may not affect your weight but it will affect your suger. Believe me, you do NOT want to turn into a diabetic! Remember sugar does turn into fat..........Try diet - Dr. Pepper is a good one
it can a contributing factor
It deosn't help, watch it.
It depends how much you are drinking...daily 2-4 liters can do other things, such as bloating and watch out for diet soda, it contains alot of sodium.
it causes stomach discomfort. but no risk of diabetes.
A can of aoda has 10 teaspoons of sugar so you are having40 -60 teaspoons of sugar a day from soda alone! Too much sugar in your diet causes your body to produce an over abundance of natural insulin and over time that damages your body . That, with age, weight and lack of exercise will cause type 2 diabetes. I read somewhere that if a person is a heavy soda consumer (soda every day) and they switch to water or non sugary drinks a person could lose up to 50 lbs in one year alone!! That should be incentive enough for anyone! Why drink your calories? Drinking 8 glasses of water a day will make you feel so much better, helps your organs to function properly, great for your teeth and will give you glowing clear skin. Ditch the soda it will be the best choice you can make health wise! Remember fruit juice is packed with sugar too so don't kid your self that it is better for you. It is only a BIT better. switching to water cold turkey will be hard but you will find that after a couple of weeks (if you have a soda again) you will notice how crappy yu feel and how un refreshing it really is.
I agree with kimmysauce626. Your body produces enough insulin to burn sugar. It's obesity that will get you.
