hypnotherapy works a lot. i do it to face stage fright and it works and do meditation 2.
First step- just get on....once past that barrier it should all come back naturally, like riding a bike.
If you already done that and you still are having problems, try having someone lead you around on your least problematic horse. Bareback helps, because it allows you and your animal to build a trust again. He or she can sense your emotions so it's important to show some courage, while maintaining a freinship. It'll all come back like riding a bicycle. Have fun!

Maybe you should book lessons. I know you've been riding a long time, but having a professional instructor with you when you're schooling the youngster might help give you more confidence.

You could also get someone else to work on him with you. If you have an experienced friend who'd be able to help you then maybe you'd find it easier. If you don't maybe you could share him for a few months, again so that someone else is helping you (and you'd get a bit of money as well).

I'm not a very confident rider myself and I tend to go through phases of being really confident and phases of being a nervous wreck every time I see a raised pole let alone a jump. Just persevere and keep riding - remember the days when you were confident and loved it and know that you can feel like that again. Good luck and have fun!
